The Risk Of Searching For A Diabetes Cure

With an economic value that is expected to reach $500 billion in 2020, pharmaceutical companies have been racing to find a cure for diabetes, or at least a drug to control the disease that does not have life threatening side effects. In recent years pharmaceutical companies have come under fire for rushing diabetes drugs to market without properly studying their side effects. For instance, Takeda, the manufacturer of the diabetes drug Actos, has been criticized for not properly alerting patients and health practitioners to an increased risk of  kidney failure and cancer.
